Sled, Shelter & Stillness
Your guided journey begins at Lake Minnewanka, where your guides welcome you, outfit you with winter travel gear, and introduce gentle warm-up practices to prepare your body for the cold.
Shaped by your intentions and guided by certified professionals, this experience invites you to slow down, breathe deeply, and attune to your breath, your surroundings, and the grounding stillness that winter provides. From playful teamwork to hands-on shelter building, every element is designed to connect you with nature, with your group, and with yourself.
You’ll set out on snowshoes along an accessible peaceful wilderness path, framed by snow-covered forests, breathtaking mountain views, and wide-open stillness. Together, you rotate as the “sled team”, pulling a shared expedition sled loaded with winter survival gear. Along the way, your guide will invite you into playful sensory activities that keep you present, warm, and connected: intentional awareness, leaning into presence, and settling into a gratitude-paced rhythm.
At your sheltered basecamp, a fire sparks to life as you warm up with tea and drop into a guided winter-specific mindfulness practice; designed to keep you warm, attune to your breath, your surroundings, and the simple presence of being outdoors. Through breathwork and guided meditations; you’ll feel your awareness sharpen and your presence settle.
Then the hands-on fun begins: working together in short, warm-up cycles, you’ll learn real winter skills and see your group’s creativity take shape in the snow as you build a winter survival snow shelter together. A light fire-cooked lunch rounds out this experience, complemented by hot beverages enjoyed around a cozy winter fire.
Your return walk closes with simple, meaningful prompts to carry the experience forward, letting your tracks fade behind you as the stillness of Minnewanka settles into memory.
